Scuba Diving in Cozumel
Paraiso Norte
It is located in the Cozumel Reefs National Marine Park, 2 km from San Miguel and about 2 km from the coast. The maximum depth in this place is 14 m so it is ideal for novice divers. Here you will find elongated reefs and parallel to the coast, with coral, sponges up to 2 m in diameter and shoals of brilliant blue fish.
Paraiso Sur
It is located in the Cozumel Reefs National Marine Park, 5 km from San Miguel and about 2 km from the coast. This consists of two barrier reefs, about 500 m long each, where a large population of candiles, angel fish, and large holothurians or sea cucumbers inhabit. The maximum depth is 14 metres, ideal for beginners who among other activities can practise deep sea fishing in these Reefs.
Balones of Chankanaab
It is located in the Cozumel Reefs National Marine Park, about 9 km from the centre and 2 km from the coast. This reef is more than 14 m deep and gets its name by numerous spherical coral heads that live there. You'll find big rocks from 4 to 10 m high, with abundant fish-filled cavities where lobsters, moray eels and manta rays inhabit at the maximum depth of between 18 and 21 m.
Chankanaab National Park
In this place you will find numerous coral reefs and a submarine statue of the Virgin. As part of its services the park offers scuba diving classes with authorized instructors, and the possibility of practising snorkeling, allowing you to explore, at low depth, its submarine gardens. Open every day from 7:00 to 17:00 pm.
Punta Sur Ecological Park
In its coral reefs you may find coralline formations like in Tormentos, frequented by meros and moray eels, and the depth is from 10 to 18 m. Here you will find the famous Garganta del Diablo, a cave located 15 m deep, which also leads to an incredible abyss of 40 m. Open from 9:00 to 17:00 pm.
